Project Brief
MIDFIX was appointed to design, engineer, and supply the full pipework support system for a Yorkshire Water treatment site located in Leeds as part of a £72m upgrade. The upgrade included increasing the site’s sludge capacity using a digestion process to power two CHP engines, generating enough electricity to power over 5,000 homes.
Solution
We supplied the QMEXX range of ‘off-the-shelf’ pipework supports and designed and engineered a supporting frame using Framo, due to its rapid installation, adjustability and hot-dip galvanized finish. Our design and engineering team provided the drawings and calculations for each phase, which included thrust restraints and expansion movement. To overcome the thrust and force caused by the fluid’s pressure and momentum, we fixed anchor supports at each pipe bend. Finally, the finished design was supplied in a component form ready for installation.
