Victoria Square – Woking

Project Brief

As part of the regeneration plans to transform Woking town centre, the Victoria Square development is making substantial progress for phased completion in 2020. This £500m landmark development consists of two residential towers, featuring 429 private rented sector apartments, a multi-storey car park, medical centre and two public plazas. The apartments are scheduled for complete fit-out and occupation from 2021 and therefore the need for a complete prefabricated utility cupboard solution was required.

MIDFIX was delighted to get involved on this iconic landmark scheme and was subsequently appointed by the M&E contractor to design, manufacture and deliver prefabricated utility cupboards (PUCs) for the entire residential complex.

Solutions

MIDFIX designed and produced detailed BIM compatible 3D drawings for each module. Together with the drawings, sample frames were constructed to ensure that requirements were practical for manufacture and installation.

Our flexibility in working with the M&E contractor has resulted in close collaborative working and a bespoke finished product that is being manufactured to the highest quality standards. The cupboards are delivered to site fully fitted out, pre-wired, pre-tested and pre-insulated ready to accept the final connections.

At the start of 2019, we saw the latest amendments in the 18th Edition of the IET wiring regulations come into force. In response to this legislative change, MIDFIX launched a new 18th Edition compliant cable fixings range. In addition to solving the offsite manufacture requirements, MIDFIX was able to provide the cable fixings in accordance to 18th Edition wiring regulations, for the residential towers.
